YPD 2009 Announcement

Khmer Youth Association (KYA) in cooperation with the Swedish Center for International Youth Exchange (CIU) has launched the International Youth Exchange program called "Youth Partners in Development (YPD)" since 2002. The aim of the program is to exchange social cultural of both countries focusing on how to live together, work together in communities in Cambodia as well as in Sweden .

For the year 2009 the program wish to recruit 08 Cambodian Youth to partnering with other 08 Swedish youth. The program will last for six moths started from January to June but divided into two phases:

First Phase: 3 months in Cambodia from January to March, 2009

Second Phase: 3 months in Sweden from April to June, 2009

 

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Age between 21 and 26 years and MUST BE SINGLE .
  • Not be a monk or nun
  • Have certain personalities: self-awareness, flexibility, good communication, patience, willing to learn, and being open-minded toward new experiences
  • Have ability to communicate in English.
  • Be strong interests regarding to community development, international relationship, and cultural exchanges.
  • Have enough time for the whole 6 months

Assignment during the program:

  • Live with counterpart as a pair (The same sex one Swedish and one Cambodia) in province not their origin in the hosted family in assigned communities
  • Do voluntary works with counterpart in any of Khmer Youth Association, NGOs, and other institutions
  • Make study visits in assigned communities.
  • Conduct and implement the project in pair or group.
  • Share experiences and culture to your counterpart.

Financing:

KYA and CIU will cover the whole expenses (accommodation, food, transportation, passport, visa, and pocket money) for the applicants who have been completely selected for the program. However, these applicants are required to pay $40 for the administration expenses.
