Angkor Youth Camp 2008

Angkor Youth Camp, as mentioned, is one of main activities that KYA has organized. The First Angkor Youth Camp in 2000 and the Second in 2002 were held in Siem Reap province while the third Camp was held in Sihanuk ville and the fourth in Kampot province. Angkor Youth Camp is a unique event that youth participants from different backgrounds and provinces and especially the vulnerable group got the unforgettable experiences and building good relationship with each other. Each Camp focused on ten significant themes on Education , Employment, Hunger and Poverty, Health, Environment, Drug and Abuse, Juvenile delinquency, Leisure time activities, Girl and young women and Youth Participation where these thematic fully discussed in different forums and workshops gathered from different places and through the whole two previous years.

Participants

There are totally 270 youth 119 female from 21 provinces and cities in Cambodia and including other 9 foreigner youth 2 female from 5 countries in Asia and Europe--Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Lao PDR and Italy participated in the fifth Angkor Youth Camp-2008.Will be held from September1-5,2008 at KOH KONG Province.

 

 

 

Result

Cambodian and foreign youths who participated in the event have agreed with the following points:

•  The Royal Government of Cambodia, especially MoEYS has to approve national youth policy in 2009.

•  Policy drafting has to be consistent to the guideline determined by International Council for National Youth Policy (ICNYP).

•  After finalizing the draft, Open Forums have to be organized widely in urban and remote areas.

•  National Youth Policy have to be approved by National Assembly

•  Ministry of Education Youth and Sport has to consider the points in the youth paper position of NYP-NET to put into the draft of National Youth Policy.

•  UN agencies especially UNDP, UNFPA, UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank has to fully support the process of establishing of the national youth policy.
