National Youth Policy |
|
The UNESCO, which is one of the United Nation organizations, has declared for many times, again and again, the lack of a national youth policy in Cambodia. Recently, we have cooperated with the Youth Council of Sweden and had several meetings with the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS), those included meetings with officers, departments, and the Department of Youth to initiate this policy. As a result, all our meetings resulted fruitfully, supporting and encouraging to create this policy; and additionally, we are welcome in a strong political will to initiate this youth policy in Cambodia.
The advocacy program mainly aims to get the result of investigation and to reach the establishing of the National Youth Policy in Cambodia. Using advocacy activities is to encourage young people to fulfill their role as main tools to make positive changes of society to be better in the future, and because youths can approve the relationship, opinions, views, issues, suggestions, and protesting on any problems in which they are involved. So each province is holding 10 discussion meetings a year, in which we focus on different specific issues. |
Youth Conferences and Camps |
|
With the youth conferences and the youth camps we want to encourage greater youth involvement in government decision making and advocating for youth concerns, as well as pushing for the creation of a national youth policy. |
Roundtable Discussions |
|
We open our roundtable discussions to all young people, aged between 18 and 35, representing from everywhere in each target area such as students, teachers, government officers, youths activists, monks, etc. With the roundtable discussions we aim to identify youth issues, needs and recommendations and raise awareness about youth policy among young people in Cambodia and invovle them in creating the youth policy and an action plan. The topics being discussed include the views of youths on
- Education
- Work/Employment
- Hunger and poverty
- Health
- Environment
- Drug abuse
- Juvenile delinquency
- Leisure time activities
- Girls and young women
- Participation of youths in social networks and in decision making
Finally, all suggestions and recommendations that have been raised will be sent to institutes/ departments which are involved like: parliamentarians, ministries, provincial departments, city municipals and any national and international information networks. |
