Nowadays, the girls/women-boy/men have the same rights to go to school as well as to get general education but this traditional still work on because some girls-women still the first one to offer their body-mind for their family when the family meet the poverty, illness, danger and so on. So the girls and women always the main person who do any things to satisfy the family memb ers - I am one daughter among three cousins brothers and sisters shilding in my family, when I studied at primary school which was the year that I have to pass to the secondary school, my mother said-dear

should stop your study to help me making and selling cake to support your brothers' study. I was thinking a whole night to find solution but I could not. I onlly could tell myself that I had no choice and tear were caning. The next day I replayed to my mother-Yes I will. Sine that day I dropout school with my sorrow but my spirit still continues . One woman, who live at Svay Rieng province said.

KYA- Women Program established sine 1994 because we recognized that women need a specific support if we want to reach equality between women and men.

Moreover, we would like to see women and men share power and respect the laws related to women.

With providing qualified information we would like to initiate a positive social change in our society. Societies where women and men are equally respected as human beings, where women are physically and mentally protected and girls have equal access to educate and make useful of all their human resources for developing further.

What we want

  • to empower, encourage and increase women's participation in decision making
  • to encourage them to express their own opinions and to form group discussion
  • to create communicaton networks related to public and non-formal education

Mothers, daughters, widows, childless women, nuns, handicapped women...they should be respected from the society. We, as young women, want to improve the capabilities and the knowledge of young women, so that we will have a better present time and future.

Why we have a women project

  • women have their own lifestyle and perspectives
  • women are responsible for their social and family life
  • women like sitting together and sharing their experiences
  • women want to practice solidarity and finish discrimination among themselves and in our society
  • women have to share more specific information about the political and legal situation in Cambodia
  • women like learning together and also to have fun

How we work

  • we have good trained female employees
  • we inform ourselves about specific women issues
  • we have actual material about the law against domestic violence
  • we cooperate with other organizations
  • we practice equal rights in our own organization

Where we work
