Young People's Reproductive & Sexual Health

PreHTIR

Bringing change for Cambodia 's future depends on the survival and development of its children and youth of both sexes. The key areas need attention in regard to HIV and AIDS is to fully mainstream the knowledge of HIV and AIDS to many youth and community as possible. We believe that "youth are the agent of change." By this belief we are hoping that when all youth and communities get to know clearly about any attitude which will bring them to being safe from chronic and unhealed disease, the whole community will be living in a happy life and development. The construction and development of the country cannot deny the participation of Cambodian youths. If these youth are unhealthy, the effect will be unpredictable. Hence, PreTHIR (Prevention HIV Transmission and Impact Reduction) a project funded by Dan Church Aids (DCA) has been begun within adolescent reproductive health unit of Khmer Youth Association in by raising awareness of HIV and AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health among young people and communities is a solid key to prevent future disaster. By this, youths, themselves, will be the key actors in forwarding messages to communities as well as in changing their way of thinking and living. From this concept, a three year and half planning has been modified and finalized. The project aim is to supplement to government policy and law as Article 2 of the HIV/AIDS law states that the State must appropriately address all determinants that drive the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Cambodia .
