Globalization
Young people all over the world are very actively discussing and talking about globalization but in Cambodia most of the young people don't know what exactly globalization means. For a poor country like Cambodia it is rather difficult to apply to the new world system. We are more like victims or patients in this new system. In the term of globalization today it's all about speed of trade, free market and modern technology. In fact for Cambodia, because of the poverty, a lot of young people from the countryside come to look for jobs in Phnom Penh. Meanwhile globalization is very complicated for young people and there are very different opinions, some think it's good for the poor countries, some think it's the opposite.
Human Rights
Human rights are still a major problem in the Cambodian society which needs to be focused on and thought about at all times. The human rights violation is still happening such as political intimidation and killings during elections, the lack of a right to have protection from frightening and the right for social justice to only give a few examples.
Illegal Drugs
Drugs are very widespread, especially in the provinces linking to borders. Through the abuse of drugs, young people commit crimes, robberies etc.
Peace
In Cambodia people are still living without peace in their minds. They are living with anger, jealousy, revenge and moral decline. If in a society many people have something in their minds like this it can have a negative impact on the society and cause insecurity. |
